Paul spent the last 15 years leading Roth Bros., Inc., a $150 million industry leading national HVAC, roofing and EMS Company. He is an Angel Investor in many tech start-ups; Advisor to BuiltWorlds and Hard Hat Hub; Executive Committee Member of the Young Presidents Organization’s Construction Industry and Sustainability Business Networks and he is being mentored by one of the world’s top innovators and disruption experts. After he sold Roth to a large global company, Paul has been following his passion, which is to help other CEO contractors succeed.

With the credentialing of an MBA and experience as both a CPA and a CFO, Paul has over 15 years of operating experience as the president of a national contracting company. He now works as a highly respected coach, helping presidents and CEOs who either own or run contracting or facility service companies to grow those companies, create good jobs, and build wealth.

Paul started his career as an accountant for Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). When he began with the firm, he was making more money than his father who owned a small toy wholesaling business. Paul learned the work ethic and juggling act needed to survive as a struggling entrepreneur from his father. These basic principles still guide him today.

In 2006, seven years after joining Roth Bros., Inc. as president at age 37, Paul J. Belair led his management team in successfully purchasing Roth from FirstEnergy, an electric utility. Prior to joining Roth, Paul was the CFO of FirstEnergy’s holding company, which had over $500 million in revenue.

During the recent economic recession under Paul’s leadership Roth’s revenue nearly double to $150 million. By putting the right strategies in place, fostering the right culture, and building a high performing, results oriented team, Paul was able to achieve this rapid growth.

Then, 63 months after investing in the purchase of Roth, a company that was founded in 1923, Paul led the sale of Roth to Large Global Company. That sale realized a once-in-a-lifetime creation of wealth for both Paul and his team with a return that was 83 times the amount of their initial investment.

Paul puts that experience to work today as an elite coach for presidents and CEOs. In this role, Paul has an uncanny ability to quickly unlock a company’s potential. Working with a contractor or facility service company, he provides unique insights into the business that can lead to transformative improvement, and rapid yet controlled growth and profitability.

Paul has experienced all of the ups and downs of running a company, and understands the many challenges CEOs face. From crisis management, to family members working for other family members, to controlling rapid growth successfully, Paul has experience dealing with a CEO’s most pressing issues. Paul has also made his share of mistakes that he shares with his clients, so they can learn from him in order to avoid them in their own businesses.

Paul will hold you accountable to grow and improve. He provides no-nonsense feedback and mentoring while focusing on growth strategies, the right incentives, operational excellence, and building high performing teams. In one case, Paul’s coaching helped a CEO minority owner in his early 30s to realize his dream of buying out the majority owner of a growing specialty contractor. In another, Paul coached the founder and CEO of a general contracting firm to bring in a highly talented senior member to his team, so the CEO could “run the company” instead of having the “company run him.”

Paul will help you too to grow and improve as a president and CEO as you learn to:

  • Think strategically, grow high margin products, and prepare to take advantage of the coming technology disruption that our industry will soon face.
  • Get sticky with your customers, and instill a service-driven relationship culture.
  • Get peak performance from your team and increase employee engagement.
  • Get new insights into your company’s financial performance and make better ROI decisions.
  • Develop your exit or succession strategy to create wealth and keep the business alive after you’re out.
  • Transition from success to significance after your exit.
